Air Quality & Health

Air quality is closely tied to a wide variety of human health concerns. In Colorado, air quality is monitored and regulated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). View reports, forecasts and other information at www.colorado.gov/airquality.

We are fortunate to benefit from good air quality in Durango. Average levels of pollutants a well below those established by State and Federal agencies as safe to protect human health. However, events such as wildfire can severely impact air quality for certain periods of time, and localized air quality can be affected by things like wood stove use as well as vehicle traffic and idling.
