- All items are to be placed in the alley or curbside on the street (where alleys are not available) for collection, and do not block driving lanes or sidewalks.
- Do not place materials on or near gas meters, fire hydrants, overhead wires, or power poles, and keep materials 2 feet away from fences, trees, and bushes to ensure collection equipment access.
- Set out materials no later than the day before the start of your neighborhood's scheduled pickup week. Once crews collect along your street, they will not return a second time.
- To reduce street clutter, please do not set out materials more than one week prior to your neighborhood's scheduled pickup week.
- All waste must be 8 feet or less in length. Crews will not pick up items over 8 feet in length.
- Secure loose trash in a bin or bag (not simply left out in the open) so it does not blow away. Residents will be responsible if their material blows away from their pile.
- Any food waste or material that may attract wildlife should be secured in a bin or container. City of Durango wildlife ordinances still apply to Spring and Fall Cleanup.
- Please separate materials by type to support recycling and reuse. Specifically, create separate piles of:
- Tree limbs, brush, and clean lumber for mulch shredding
- Bagged leaves
- Scrap metal
- Waste and refuse to be sent to the landfill.
- Usable or free items (offered only at the resident's discretion)
- Maximum two load limit per residence.
- This service is available to City residents who pay for city trash service at single-family and duplex units.. Material placed by those who are not eligible for the service or outside of designated pickup times is considered illegal dumping. If you observe or suspect illegal dumping in your neighborhood, please report it at (970) 385-2900.
