Creative Economy Commission
City Commission Overview
The Creative Economy Commission (CEC) was established on March 19, 2019. Before this, it was known as the Public Art Commission. Creativity, the arts, culture, science, and heritage (collectively referred to as the creative economy) are a central aspect of life in Durango. Due to the importance of the creative economy in Durango, the City updated the Comprehensive Plan in 2017 to include the Arts, Culture and Creative Economy section. The Comprehensive Plan called for the formation of a Creative Economy Commission to implement the various goals and objectives in the Arts, Culture and Creative Economy section. If you have a question or a comment for this commission, please fill out this form.
Mission: Enhance the quality of life and regional economy by supporting, empowering and celebrating the community’s creative and cultural resources through public art, economic development, advocacy, and education.
