Bump-Outs for Businesses

Bump-Out Program

In November 2023, City Council approved a 5-year pilot of the City of Durango's Bump-Out Program. Now entering its fourth year, Durango's bump-out program was originally created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Durango and Business Improvement District (BID) created the Bump-Out program to encourage outdoor dining and business activity in downtown Durango. This seasonal program allows businesses along Main Avenue and 2nd Avenue to use parking spaces and adjacent parts of the right-of-way for outdoor seating, conducting transactions, and displaying merchandise.

Parking is free downtown on weeknights after 6 p.m. and on weekends. Download a parking map here. To further enhance safety, the city reduced the speed limit to 15 miles per hour along the 500-1200 blocks of Main Avenue.
