Passenger traffic continued its strong growth during the first quarter of 2009 at the Durango-La Plata County Airport, increasing 18.5% during the first three months of 2009. 11,174 passengers boarded commercial aircraft during March, a 35% increase from March of 2008. This follows a record breaking year in 2008 when 136,665 passengers enplaned in Durango, an increase of 18.1% from 2007, the previous record.
February, 2009 enplanements continue the strong growth trend of 2008. In 2008 Durango set a record, by boarding 136,665 revenue passengers. (That represented an 18.1 percent increase over the previous annual record set in 2007). In February, 9323 revenue passengers boarded flights from Durango. Compared to the first two months of 2008, 2009 shows a 10.2 percent increase.
